When someone interacts with your account for the first time, they'll automatically receive opt-out instructions (i.e. Reply STOP to opt out). This disclaimer won't be included with every message, but people can still choose to opt out of your messages at any time.
The word STOP is typically the most common word used to opt out, but people can also text END, QUIT, CANCEL, or UNSUBSCRIBE. Additionally, we use machine learning to opt out subscribers who text something like "I do not want to receive messages from your church" or "I've moved, please stop texting me" or "STPO." We automatically catch these types of texts and process the opt-out for you.
When someone is opted out, they will remain on your list, but they won't receive any texts— so no need to delete their profile or edit your texting list.
How do I view opt outs?
You can pull a report to see all opt outs by heading to Settings > Reports > choose Subscriber Opt-Outs. You can also view opt outs directly from the subscribers page. Subscribers > View All > + Filter > SMS Status > choose Opted Out > Apply.
How do opt outs work with Subaccounts?
Opt outs are specific to each account/subaccount. This means someone could remain opted into the main account but choose to opt out of your subaccount.
If your church uses a 5-digit short code (i.e. 97000) in multiple accounts, people can reply STOP to opt out of the account they most recently received a text from. If someone wants to opt out of all communication from your short code, they can respond with STOP ALL.
Someone accidentally opted out. How do they opt back in?
The easiest way for someone to opt back into your messages is by texting one of your keywords. If you haven't yet created a keyword, you can learn how to do that here.
