Setting up Clearstream's ProPresenter integration

Written by Abbey Senesi

You can link Clearstream's tap tags to ProPresenter so their actions update automatically when you change slides. Perfect for letting people tap their phones to learn more about an event during announcements, sign up to volunteer, view sermon notes, give to your church, and more!

The integration works on both Mac and Windows computers. To set it up, you'll need the following:

  • Access to the computer you use for ProPresenter (likely the one in your sound booth)

Step 1: Download the ProPresenter Connector

First, you'll need to download the Clearstream ProPresenter Connector on your Mac or Windows computer. This application lets Clearstream communicate with ProPresenter. Just follow the steps below!

  1. Log in to Clearstream on the computer you use to present your ProPresenter slides. Go to Integrations in the left menu and click Connect under the ProPresenter integration.

  2. Next, click Download.

  3. On your computer, open your Downloads folder and double-click the downloaded file (below).

  4. Drag the icon into the Applications folder.

  5. Next, go to your Applications folder and double-click the Clearstream ProPresenter Connector.

Because this download is from Clearstream directly and not the App Store, you may see this pop-up as an added precaution from Apple. Click Open.

*If you're using Windows, click More info > Run anyway.

  6. Go back into Clearstream and copy the ProPresenter Connector Token.

  7. Paste the token into the Clearstream Connector and click Authenticate

Step 2: Connect Clearstream to ProPresenter

Next, you'll need to find your ProPresenter network port in your ProPresenter Settings.

  1. Open ProPresenter. Go to your Settings, then Network.

  2. Click the toggle beside Enable Network.

  3. Copy the number beside Port.

  4. Paste the number into the Clearstream Connector, and click Connect to ProPresenter.

  5. Great job, it's connected!

⚠️ Important note

The ProPresenter Connector must be open and running on your computer during service each week. When you reopen the Connector, you'll be prompted to enter your port number and connect.

Step 3: Create and add your markers

Now that everything is connected, you're ready to create the markers for your slides! Markers are what we use to update your tap tag action when you display a specific slide on screen. Common markers include tap:giving, tap:visitors, and tap:groups.

  1. On the ProPresenter page, click Create Marker.

  2. Enter a name (e.g., welcome, baptism, events), and choose which batch's action you want the marker to be used with.

  3. Choose your action. You can add your giving page, connect card, visitor keyword, and more!

  4. Once you're done, click Create Marker.

Now that you've created your marker, you need to add it to your ProPresenter slide.

  5. Copy the marker.

  6. Go to Edit mode in ProPresenter.

  7. Select the slide you want to add your marker to, then click Slide Notes in the bottom right corner of the window to make them visible. Then, paste your marker into the Slide Notes.

  8. That's it! When you change slides on a Sunday morning, your tap tags will now automatically update to match the action you selected.

You can verify it's working properly by displaying the slide, then checking the Activity Log in the ProPresenter Connector.

The action will stay active until you edit it, change it with another marker, or set a scheduled action.

💡 Tips

  • We recommend adding a marker to your last slide that reverts your tap tags to their default action. Or, you could schedule an action for right after your service ends.

  • Remember, you'll need to open the Connector every Sunday morning. We recommend adding it to your tech team's Sunday-morning checklist. Or, set the Connector to open automatically when you turn on your computer.

  • Invite people to interact with the tap tags during each announcement: whether it's members tapping to give or visitors tapping to connect. A clear invitation helps people know exactly what to do.
